The purpose of this training course is to teach the English speaking Healthcare Professional, the specialized Medical Spanish vocabulary so that they may engage in a meaningful dialogue with their Spanish speaking patients. The course has been taught for 14 years, and it is offered as a Distance Learning Course at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
The student has the option to receive more than one lesson per week.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:
The participant will learn how to…
- Understand what the patient is saying
- Diagnose medical problems
- Obtain family medical history
- Provide medical advice
- Give instructions and directions

UPON ENROLMENT: The Health Care Professional will receive the lessons each week via e-mails and sound files. The lessons will contain the Medical Spanish Vocabulary and common Health Care conversations.
WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: Doctors, Nurses, Hospital Administrators, and anyone who has contact with non-English speaking Hispanic patients.
LENGTH:
There are 10 lessons in this training program. This is a self-paced training program and is particularly well suited for busy health care professionals whose schedule doesn’t permit them to attend training classes.
SUPPLIED MATERIALS:
- 10 weekly Download lessons of “Medical Spanish for HealthCare Providers” containing useful, and often used medical dialogue.
- Instructor support through e-mail.
